Who Is Patrick?

Patrick Watson has devoted his life to community organizing. After growing up in DuPage County and graduating from North Central College in Naperville, Patrick has worked on the campaigns of President Barack Obama, Governor Pat. Quinn, and Senator Hillary Clinton, among others; both as a volunteer, and as a full-time staff member. From those campaigns Patrick has learned how to combine modern data analysis and social media with traditional canvasses and phone banks to give candidates the best chances to win.

Patrick is a Democrat and a progressive. He was a founding member of Northwest Suburbs Organizing for Action and has organized actions around issues such as affordable healthcare, comprehensive immigration reform, sensible gun legislation, climate change, and workers’ rights.

Patrick co-founded the Coalition For A Better Illinois 6th, which brought together dozens of groups from throughout the Chicagoland area to make voters aware that Representative Peter Roskam does not reflect their values. He organized a summer canvass which resulted in over 9000 doors being knocked with over 400 volunteer canvass shifts in Illinois 6th Congressional District to let voters know that Representative Roskam does not reflect their values and that an election is coming soon.

As Democratic State Central Committeeman Patrick will work to unite local Democratic township and county organizations working alongside other progressive activist groups. Patrick wants to help grow the party by actively engaging youth and other underrepresented communities. He will help local Democrats raise money so that they can open offices throughout the district that are open year round. Patrick’s goal is to help turn our district blue, from the municipal level all the way to federal offices.

Patrick has the experience and knowledge to train a new wave of local grassroots organizers who will be ready to make progressive change in our area.
